Purpose
The aim of this
virtual field guide is to use Moraine Hills and Volo Bog
to help people understand the geologic, botanic, and water resource history of
Northeastern Illinois. After completing this virtual field trip,
students should be able to:
- understand the geologic processes
that formed the
features seen today
- be able to identify plant species
that occupy these
types of environments
- describe the hydrology of the area
including the surface
and groundwater flow
- understand wetland management and
what the individual parks do
to control the wetland environments
