Part A. How to communicate with
professional colleagues
1. Join a professional organization (e.g., NSTA student chapter or
ISTA). Provide a receipt
showing your membership.
2. Begin to develop a list of websites that are run by/for teachers.
Include
this in your resource file. For this assignment, start with FIVE websites.
3. Begine to develop a list of the professional and volunteer agencies
that you
think you will need to reference. Include their names, addresses,
contact (web address, phone etc.) and what they provide. Put this in
your reference file. For this assignment, start with FIVE agencies.
Part B. How to communicate with parents
1. Find out the top 5 concerns
of parents that are appropriate to
your teaching career. Cite your source.
(i.e. Chicago Tribune, Time
Magazine etc.) Do not forget to add this in your scrapbook.
2. Write a letter to the community
describing how those concerns will
be addressed in your classroom and what community resources you
will be
using to address those concerns. BE
SURE TO SPELL AND GRAMMAR CHECK!! Once this receives a
"satisfactory," include this in your portfolio.
