Visual vs Auditory Learner Activity
Activity: For this activity you will
be working with another person. You and your partner will develop two
lessons/presentations on an important topic to your discipline (i.e.
determining density, the rock cycle, erosion, acids and bases, electron
orbitals, graphing). One presentation will be done totally verbally
with no visual cueing. The other presentation will be done completely
visually without speaking. Each presentation should be no longer than
10 minutes. Each of you will need to practice BOTH versions because the
version you will present to the class will de determined by flipping a
coin. After you and your partner deliver your lessons/demos,
answer the following questions and turn those in during the following
session. Presentation of activity
due 4-7-08, reflection on activity due 4-21-08.
1. What difficulties did you experience in developing your lesson?
2. If you had to do it again, what would you do differently?
3. It is extremely rare to have students who are totally blind or deaf in your classroom. Given that fact, why was this activity important to your teaching skills?
