Graduate Student Information

Applications and Funding

The Department of Geology and Environmental Geosciences offers support through Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs) and Graduate Research Assistantships (GRAs). GTA and GRA support includes a tuition waiver and is guaranteed for 2 years for MS students and 4 years for PhDs. Additional salary support for geochemistry graduate students is usually available through research grants and scholarships. The overall support package is very competitive with other programs. Extended support is available for non-traditional students, meaning those with bachelors degrees in field other than geology. Non-traditional students are often required to take several undergraduate geology courses, and this is determined by a committee on an individual basis.
