I received a BS in Geology from Southampton College (Long Island University), MS from University of South Carolina, and Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. I joined NIU in 2000, following positions at University of Massachusetts and Uppsala University, Sweden.
I am a paleontologist with an expertise in siliceous microfossils, especially Pleistocene marine diatoms from Antarctica, though I have dabbled in research on several other fossil groups.
