This virtual field trip will take the virtual traveler to the most famous volcano in Japan, as well as one of the largest calderas in all of the world.  While Mount Fuji and Hakone have several differences, they also share characteristics.  By the end of this virtual field trip, the virtual traveler will find where and why these volcanoes are in their present locations; what formed them; how long it took to form them, and several general characteristics of volcanoes and their associated eruptions.

I suggest beginning the trip with Volcanoes and Japan, moving onto Mount Fuji, and finishing with Hakone.  To see the similarities and differences between the volcanoes, I have included an excercise to
Compare/Contrast Mount Fuji and Hakone.  To challenge young minds, I have provided a Student Workbook and a Volcano Webquest to complement this trip.  For the truly daring, I have included a Teacher's Guide as well as tips for an Actual Trip to Japan.  Enjoy!
